Welcome Into the Memory Garden
Becoming is the part of First Year Storybooks that helps children grow emotionally through stories, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences—giving them opportunities to practice courage, kindness, gratitude, empathy, confidence, hope, and other qualities they will carry into adulthood.
What Is I Am Growing?
I Am Growing is a story set in the Memory Garden, where flowers and garden spaces represent qualities and feelings children are learning to understand. As the child moves through the garden, the story helps make ideas like courage, empathy, confidence, gratitude, and hope easier to notice, name, and talk about together.
Behind the Story
That ordinary bench became meaningful because it held a real moment—a place to pause, notice, talk, and simply be together. As the Memory Garden took shape, Lessy began weaving those everyday memories into its world. Many of the places and details in the garden were inspired by something she had actually seen, loved, or remembered. That is how real life found its way into the story.
